GOING THE DISTANCE
Welcome to what I think is going to be the exciting world of 2021!
I don’t have to tell you that things have changed—and I hope that we are all changing for the better as we find new ways to learn and to share.
You know, there are lots of speakers who have written books designed to help you. And, just like every facet of life, there are some really great books and there are some not so good books.
Here’s the bottom line for me. As a speaker—I have just one story to tell—and it’s a true story that happened to real people!
But first—let me tell you what I don’t have.
With all due respect to the authors, I don’t have the 7 habits you need in order to…….I don’t have the 10 things you need to know to ……Nor do I have the 6 keys to how to …….or the 5 steps needed to……and so on and so on.
We’ve all been to the bookstore. I’m sure you get the picture here.
It’s no secret that the live speaker market is being forced to change. And lots of times, change is good. I enjoy being a live speaker, but now, everything has changed—and so have I.
If you can spare 60 seconds of your life (and who doesn’t have 60 seconds these days?) just push the video button and if a picture is worth a thousand words, you’ll get a quick snapshot of what my story is all about.
I’m proud of what I have been able to do with my life and now that I am about to turn 75, I’m not interested in promising you a whiz bang 5, 6, 7 or 10-point system that will change your life. Deep down inside, you have probably always known that only you can change your life. And I think you’ll do that when you really want to.
I miss being in front of a live audience, but that’s probably the way things are going to be, at least for the next little while.
In a way it’s a refreshing challenge to connect with an audience you can’t actually see. Coming from a 30-year career in radio and television, when you’re speaking into a radio news microphone or a television news camera, there isn’t a live audience there either.
Maybe you’ll take a look through my website (and maybe you won’t) and if you think there is something here that might inspire you and the people you care about—that’s fine. And maybe I can help you.
In the meantime, I have lots to work on, including my garden plans for next summer. Getting my hands dirty is a nice environment that’s a long way from working at a computer. It’s an environment I like and now that we are all learning that there is no Planet-B, somehow the garden is teaching me more about nature and what really matters in life.
Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know if I can help you.
